Beachspiration: mindful practices to inspire your art-making

In this video I share how I use mindfulness practices to tune into inspiration and how this informs my art-making.

When you are at your location, take notice of these sensory details. Choose just one to focus on or several categories.

  • SOUNDS - what do you hear? How can you represent these in words or imagery?

  • COLOURS - which ones are you drawn to? What combinations interest you?

  • TEXTURES - do you see repeat patterns you could photograph or draw? How does holding or touching them inspire you?

  • SHAPES - what kinds of shapes are you drawn to? Can you bring them into your artwork?

  • SCENTS - what scents can you notice? How can you represent these in words or imagery?
