Hello, I’m Nicole

An artist, mother, teacher, and nature lover. I live in Comox Valley on Vancouver Island where I adore spending time in nature, expressing myself creatively, practicing yoga and meditation, and teaching art classes.

An artist since childhood, I started my formal art training with a Studio Arts Diploma at Capilano College where I learned drawing, painting, sculpture, traditional printmaking and art history. I continued my Bachelor of Fine Art at the University of Victoria, double majoring in Visual Arts and Art History. Returning to Vancouver, I worked for a non-profit art gallery in Deep Cove and volunteered as a board member of the North Vancouver Community Arts council. I continued my art practice by taking classes in printmaking and photography. In 2008, I returned to school to earn my Bachelor of Education at UBC and I went on to teach in public schools in Vancouver, Qualicum and Comox Valley.

In recent years I’ve taught in Wanderlust, Everything Art TV, Life Book, and Ivy Newport’s Studioworks Creative Academy and been published several times in Stampington’s Art Journaling Magazine.

These days I enjoy painting, hiking, teaching art, yoga and exploring the forest, mountains, and beaches with my husband and daughters. I teach online art classes in watercolour painting, mixed media, and art journaling.

I have near-daily art and meditation practices. Whether its watercolour painting, nauture journaling, sketching or art journaling, creating art brings me joy, calm, a sense of well-being. It grounds me and helps me reconnect to myself and the world around me. I love to share these practices with my students. Join me!
