Very Beginner Watercolour Workshop

In this beginner’s class, you will learn a contemporary approach to creating beautiful mini-landscapes. Explore the versatility of watercolours through creative play as well as guided drawing and painting. We will draw inspiration from our West Coast surroundings. You will explore colour mixing, layering using both wet and dry brush techniques, different ways to create texture.

Expressive Mark Making

March 16, 2019 9:00am- 12:00pm, Lupine Art Studio

Your artwork can be as unique as your handwriting but it takes practice. Bring new life to your drawing, art journaling or painting by learning techniques that expand your visual vocabulary. This class is filled with creative drawing and painting exercises that guide you into new territory where you’ll discover expressive mark making. Working on paper, we will use materials like graphite, pens, charcoal, watercolour, ink, and pastel to create marks that are filled with gesture and emotion. At the end of class Nicole will demonstrate how to repurpose your experiments into a mini hand-bound art journals.

Mountains & Islands in Watercolour

March 31, 2019 1:00pm- 4:00pm, Lupine Art Studio

Taking inspiration from the local mountains, tree lines, and islands of the Salish Sea, continue to develop your watercolour techniques through the art of landscape. You will learn to plan and draw compositions, practice mixing beautiful West Coast colours, and create depth with layers of watercolour.  We will also explore combining drawing and pen work into the paintings.
