"Waterfall at Dusk" is a very special painting for me. When I created it I was completely lost in the beautiful flow of painting. I lost track of time and felt like I was just moving – no stopping, no coming up for air. When I finally stepped back to look at it I was so pleased to see how the rich, dark colour scheme had emerged. In an energetic moment I had painted the white marks on the left of the painting with my fingers. I told my husband that I didn’t even know what they represented, just that I felt they needed to be there. He said it was a waterfall and this immediately made me think of Myra Falls on Buttle Lake in Strathcona Provincial Park. This is where the intuitive painting process meets with experiences and memories that I carry with me in my heart and mind.
